A Framework for creating balanced meals

ABC method – an easy-to-remember framework to create nutritious and appealing meals that entice even the fussiest eaters. (by the pediatric dietitian mom, Kristen Smaldone)

The 'A' stands for appealing, 'B' for balanced, and 'C' for convenient. This method ensures that meals are not only nutrient-rich but also appealing to children's palates.

A – Appealing. Include a variety of colors, different fun shapes, fun plate or bowl and appropriate portion sizes. For toddlers, 1-2 tablespoons per age per food item to avoid overwhelming the child.

B – Balanced. Include food from all food groups: fruit, vegetables, protein, grain, and dairy.

C- Convenient. Use of frozen or pre-chopped veggies, pre-cooked shredded meat, or canned beans to make meal prep easier.
